It also won a Gold Medal at the British inventors show in 2005 and the Silver Medal at the Expo International Inventors Show in Switzerland the following year in the safety and consumer hygiene categories.
Guardian Drink Holders™ not only solves a problem for clubs, bars and
their customers, it proves to be a popular and simple solution for all.
Out of a serious incident that could have proved very dangerous for Luke, he had hit on an idea that worked. There was a gap in the market and by convincing bars and clubs to try it out; he proved that the product worked and that there was a market for it. The clubs and bars love the product, seeing a big drop in broken glasses and bottles, while at the same time, the clubbers feel safer with their drinks in view all the time.
How Guardian Drink Holders were born?
Guardian Drink Holders Ltd was established in 2007 by cousins Luke Andrews and Dean Andrews.
Luke was in a Cardiff club when his drink was spiked. He collapsed and was seriously ill for days. The experience gave him an idea.
It was a new concept that would help ensure a safer drinking environment in busy venues such as a bars or nightclubs. It would allow clubbers to keep their drinks with them if they needed to use the restroom.
It is also a big step forward in preventing people from tampering with their drinks. It was simple and safe. Clubbers could put their glasses or bottles into the holder. The holders could be placed above men's urinals, inside ladies cubicles or near the hand dryer. This option would allow users to keep their drink in view all the time providing safety, peace of mind and convenience.
Luke and Dean wanted the holder to be hygienic too and used the latest anti-bacterial technology to kill 99.9% of all bacteria, including e-coli and MRSA. For clubs and bars it would also mean that there would be less breakages and spillages and less accidents too. When the glass or bottle is in the rubber ring it cannot be knocked over or spilt.
Guardian was tested in many of the well-known chains of clubs and bars across Britain.
